Ready to Rehome?

Welcome to IDOG Rescue, where we are committed to ensuring that no doodle ends up in a shelter. If you find yourself in a situation where you can no longer care for your dog, we offer a rehoming service to help you find a new home for your furry friend.

At IDOG Rescue, we prioritize the welfare of the dogs that come into our care. While we have some limitations on the types of medical and behavioral issues we are able to accept into the rescue, we promise to treat you and your dog with respect throughout the process. Since our creation in 2006, we have successfully found loving homes for many pre-loved doodles.

Rehome FAQ

I NEED TO REHOME MY DOG. HOW DO I GET STARTED?

The first step is to complete our rehome form with as much information as possible. One of our rescue personnel will contact you to discuss your dog and any issues or concerns. If your dog is accepted into our Rehome Program, we will either work with you to rehome your dog while you keep him in your home, or we will place the dog into a foster home. You will be guided by our experienced personnel about which option is best for you and your dog.

DO I HAVE TO PAY A REHOME FEE FOR YOU TO HELP ME REHOME MY DOG?

We appreciate donations to help with the costs associated with helping your dog, but it is not a requirement for our assistance. It is really helpful to IDOG if you can make sure your dog is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested and fairly recently groomed. All our dogs are spayed or neutered before adoption, so if your dog is intact, this will be an additional expense that IDOG will be incurring.

I NEED IDOG RESCUE’S HELP WITH THE PLACEMENT OF A HEARTWORM POSITIVE DOG. WILL IDOG RESCUE ACCEPT HEARTWORM POSITIVE DOGS?

We do often accept heartworm positive dogs. Complete our rehome form here.

I NEED IDOG RESCUE’S HELP WITH THE PLACEMENT OF AN AGGRESSIVE DOG. WILL IDOG RESCUE ACCEPT DOGS WITH AGGRESSION ISSUE?

IDOG Rescue will not accept aggressive dogs, but we do accept doodles with other behavioral issues, on a case-by-case basis.

I AM A BREEDER AND HOPED TO CONNECT TO YOUR AUDIENCE OF DOODLE-LOVERS. WILL YOU HELP ME PLACE DOODLE PUPPIES?

We do not assist breeders in selling or reselling dogs.

WHAT GEOGRAPHIC AREAS DOES IDOG RESCUE SERVE?

IDOG has many wonderful foster homes throughout the US. Our ability to help rehome your dog will be dependent upon the availability of an appropriate foster home for your dog. If we are able to find an appropriate foster family for your dog’s specific needs, you will need to be willing to transport your dog to one of the regions where we have more resources. Those regions are currently: Pacific Northwest (OR, WA), Texas, East Coast and some parts of the Midwest. If you are willing to transport your dog, please complete this Rehome Request Form in its entirety.

WHO OWNS MY DOG WHILE IDOG RESCUE LOOKS FOR A NEW HOME FOR IT?

If your dog is staying with you while we find it a new home, you will continue to own the dog. If your dog is placed in foster care, you will sign a release of ownership form and IDOG Rescue will take ownership of the dog.

HOW DO I KNOW MY DOG WILL GET A GOOD NEW HOME?

IDOG Rescue uses an intensive screening process to place dogs into new homes. A reasonable adoption fee and an adoption contract ensure that there is a tangible level of commitment. The contract and fee combined with our careful pre-screening ensures that your dog’s next home will be his forever home.

DO I GET A PORTION OF THE ADOPTION FEE WHEN IDOG RESCUE REHOMES MY DOG?

All adoption fees go to the IDOG Rescue Fund, not to the dog’s owner. The IDOG Rescue Fund is used to help other dogs in the rescue that need vetting, heartworm and medical treatments, surgery and such.
